Submission of the researche project

HDRs attached to the ED3C who wish to submit a thesis project must complete the online form by March 3, 2024 Compliance with the submissison deadline is imperative, no project will be accepted after this date.

Each HDR can submit only one project.

Cannot submit a project:

  • HDRs who are not exclusively associated with the ED3C.(cf articles 5, 6 et 7 du règlement intérieur de l‘ED3C),
  • HDRs submitting projects to another doctoral school, including ED FIRE,
  • HDRs for which the recruitment of a new doctoral student on 1 October of the current year would result in their supervision rate exceeding the maximum of three doctoral students on that date,
  • HDRs who received a doctoral contract the previous year from ED3C (doctoral contract from SU, UPC or PSL, FRA or FRM),  from FIRE or from their previous doctoral school if they recently joigned the ED3C. 

The project is submitted via the ADUM portal. If you do not yet have an ADUM account, you must create one and fill in your profile information.

The tutorial (downloadable here) will guide you through the data entry process. The information provided in the online form must be supplemented by a pdf file generated from the word file (downloadable here) which you will rename in your name « PAC2024_NomHDR.pdf ».

Validation of the research projects

The projects will be examined by the ED3C Board, which meets in restricted session on 11 March 2024.

The eligibility of applications will take into account the above criteria as well as the quality of doctoral supervision within the team. The project leader must hold the HDR by 1 September 2024 or have obtained an exemption.

Admissible projects  will be posted on the ADUM plateform in early April 2024 for application.

Specific procedure for selecting the candidates proposed to the FRM

The eligibility rules for HDRs are the same as for the Doctoral Contract Allocation Process. HDRs who are members of the FRM Scientific Board are not eligible.

When submitting projects as part of the Doctoral Contract Allocation Process, HDRs who want to present a candidate for an FRM contract, tick the "FRM" box on the Word form, and submit a single pdf file online  « PAC2024_NomHDR.pdf »  containing the following additional information :

  • Short CV of the supervisor (maximum 1500 characters)
  • list of top 10 publications during the last 5 years
  • list of research grants obtained over the past 5 years
  • Supervision experience of the supervisor: theses defended in the last 5 years, names of doctors and publications resulting from the thesis
  • description of the thesis project, highlighting its originality, its innovative character and its feasibility (2 pages maximum)
  • Candidate's curriculum vitae: curriculum vitae, final grades and rankings (if any) obtained at Licence (L3) and Master (M1S1, M1S2, M2S1) (or equivalent), research experience, internships, works and publications, professional project (maximum 1500 characters).

The FRM will make the final award of their doctoral contracts at the end of June. If, as we hope, the names of the FRM awardees will be published before the oral part of the ED3C Doctoral Contract Allocation Process, FRM awardees will be required to accept the FRM contract offered to them and will not be required to attend the ED3C oral.
